Go Use Your Bamboo Fly Rod

Top Reasons to go Fly Fishing

You're a fisherman, you should already be comfortable with excuses, but in case you just got a brand new custom bamboo fly rod, or some other new piece of equipment, or a really good six pack of beer, and want to get out on the stream, here's some good ones for you.

You get to out think something.

Some people just don't get this. Well, by some people I guess I mean "people who don't fish." If all goes according to plan, you and all your gear, your bamboo fly rod and arsenal of flies, as well as your knowledge of your adversary and stream conditions all line up perfectly and you catch something. Congratulations! You just outsmarted an animal that basically is operating off of instinct, doesn't have much going for it in the way of memory, and overall has a brain the size of a bean.  Well done, sir.  Well done.

The Scenery is Fetching.

Let's face it, trout live in gorgeous locations for the most part. Picturesque streams that lazily flow through a field or pasture in a peaceful, tranquil setting. Of course, you may encounter some natives that feel that you're encroaching on their space - anything from racoons, hawks and bulls up to black or grizzly bears depending upon where you are. Don't worry, you're good at sharing, right? Remember, don't show fear, they can sense it.

There's Never A Dull Moment.

This isn't cast it out and watch a bobber for a few hours while you drink beer and work on your tan fishing - this is fly fishing. Your always doing something - casting, reeling, ducking, removing hooks from skin, pulling line out of bushes and trees you got snagged in, cursing - the list goes on and on. It's like multitasking while scuba diving with a porcupine. You're not going to get bored, trust me.

You Can Dress for Success.

This is an occupation that requires some special clothes. Like an astronaut, only different. Big floppy hat with flies stuck all around? Check. Hip waders? Check. Vest with 462 pockets of assorted sizes in all manner of locations? Check. You're all set, badass.

It Beats Working.

And that just can't be argued with. Enjoy the streams!
